DAY 1: CASABLANCA
The best of Morocco tour starts here. Upon arrival, your English-speaking driver will transfer you to your hotel and provide you with a briefing of your Morocco experience.
DAY 2: CASABLANCA/ FEZ
Visit King Hassan II mosque and set off to Rabat, the capital city of Morocco, and the youngest imperial city. It is quieter than Fez and Marrakech. You will visit its unfinished Hassan Tower, with the remaining of its mosque after 1755 devastating earthquake that hit Portugal and North Africa. Just near, gain access to the Mausoleum Mohammed V before heading to the Kasbah Oudayas. Finally, stop at the Chellah Gardens and Necropolis. Then drive for Fez.
DAY 3: FEZ
Start with an exterior driving tour of Fez that takes you to the royal palace decorated entrance and the Jewish quarter both located at Fez El Jadid, then continue to the panoramic view of the medina and finally visit the mosaics and pottery area.
Fez walking tour will take you back in time to explore the secrets of this enchanting city, the capital of medieval Morocco. Fez medina is a large labyrinth of winding alleys. It’s famous for its fascinating architecture in riads, palaces, museums and medersas; but also for its busy souks and ancestral crafts areas.
Traditionally, the exploration of the medina starts at the Bab Boujloud Gate, also known as the Blue Gate. Then one of the mid-14th century medersa, with its cedar woodwork, its sculptured stucco, marble and beautiful calligraphy. Then, stop, at the carpenters’ souk, wood museum and the beautiful famous Nejjarine fountain. Then walk to the ancient sovereign Moulay Idriss shrine and the Karawiyine Mosque (the oldest university in the history of mankind). You will move on further to Seffarine (the brass and copper working area) then the dyers of materials for textiles. Another main attraction is the tanneries.
DAY 4: FEZ/ MARRAKECH
Today, you will drive from Fez to Marrakesh – the pink-red city, also known as the Almoravids’ capital. On the way, you’ll enjoy many stops to admire the various landscapes of the Middle Atlas, especially Ifrane- Morocco’s Switzerland. Continue through Beni Mellal. Upon arrival, you can opt for a first feel of Marrakesh at the famous square known as Jamaâ Lafna.
DAY 5: MARRAKECH
Marrakesh is an enchanting city with its nice souks but, also, its magnificent monuments such as Badie Palace, Bahia Palace, Koutoubia miaret, Saadian tombs, the Mellah not to forget the Majorelle Gardens. Today, you will drive from Fez to Marrakesh – the pink-red city, also known as the Almoravids’ capital. On the way, you’ll enjoy many stops to admire the various landscapes of the Middle Atlas, especially Ifrane- Morocco’s Switzerland. Continue through Beni Mellal. DAY 6: MARRAKECH/ AIT BENHADDOU/ OUARZAZATE
This morning you drive through the very scenic Tizi N’ Tichka pass- a zizag route that climbs almost 3300 m high. It will be your way to Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, a UNESCO classified site that was once an obliged stop for trade caravans to and from Timbuktu, and that was the scene for many famous movies such as GLADIATOR. You continue your way to Ouarzazate famous for its Taorirt Kasbah which was the home of the Pacha Glaoui- once the ruler of the Moroccan south.
DAY7: OUARZAZATE/ ERG CHIGAGA
Leaving Ou arzazate, you head to the village of M’hamid. This part of the journey will be off-road, which means you are acceding into Morocco’s wildest Sahara– Erg Chigaga. Here, you will enjoy the majesty of the immense high sand dunes and one of the most dramatic sunsets of the wild Moroccan desert. This is, also, the home of some nomadic families that you might come across. Here, you will spend your night is a tented camp.
DAY 8; ERG CHIGAGA/ ZAGORA
Start your day early to catch the stunning sunrise over the dunes. Enjoy the serene landscape as the sun rises.
Have breakfast at your camp or in a nearby lodge, enjoying traditional Moroccan dishes.
Take a short camel ride or hike through the dunes to experience the beautiful scenery and take photos.
Depart Erg Chigaga and begin your journey to Zagora. The drive will take approximately 4 to 5 hours, so enjoy the scenic views along the way.
Arrive in Zagora and enjoy lunch at a local restaurant, sampling Moroccan cuisine.
Explore the town, visiting local markets and the famous “Timbuktu” sign, which indicates the distance to the legendary city.
Check into your accommodation and relax. You can enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner at your hotel or a nearby restaurant.
DAY 9: ZAGORA/ TAROUDANT
After breakfast, start your journey to Taroudant. The drive will take around 5 to 6 hours, so prepare for a scenic ride.
Consider stopping in Tazarine for a break and to explore this charming village. You can grab a snack and take in the local culture.
Enjoy lunch at a roadside café or a picnic if you prefer. Then, Check into your hotel and freshen up.
Spend the afternoon exploring the city’s medina, famous for its well-preserved walls and vibrant souks. Do not forget to visit the local artisan shops.
Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, trying out some more Moroccan dishes. Take a leisurely evening stroll around the city to enjoy the ambiance.
DAY 10: TAROUDANT/ AGADIR
After breakfast, start your journey to Agadir. Enjoy the scenic views along the way. Once you arrive, check into your accommodation and freshen up. Spend some time at Agadir Beach, relaxing on the sandy shores or taking a dip in the Atlantic Ocean. Enjoy lunch at a beachfront café or a local restaurant, sampling fresh seafood. Take a stroll around the marina, where you can admire the boats and enjoy the lively atmosphere. In the late afternoon, visit the Agadir Kasbah for panoramic views of the city and the coastline. It’s a great spot for sunset photography. Enjoy dinner at a local restaurant, trying out traditional Moroccan dishes or fresh seafood.
DAY 11: AGADIR/ ESSAOUIRA
After breakfast, depart Agadir for Essaouira. So, enjoy the coastal scenery along the way. Consider stopping at an argan oil cooperative to learn about the production process and purchase some high-quality products. Check into your accommodation and take some time to relax. Enjoy lunch at a local café in the medina, trying out fresh seafood or traditional Moroccan dishes. Spend the afternoon wandering through Essaouira’s UNESCO-listed medina. Explore the narrow streets, local shops, and artisan workshops. Walk along the ramparts of Essaouira for stunning views of the ocean and the city. Enjoy dinner at a restaurant with a view of the ocean. If possible, catch the sunset over the Atlantic for a beautiful end to your day.
DAY 12: MARRAKECH OR CASABLANCA
